Question on Cyberoptics Sentry 2000 implementation | 12 July, 2004

I am working as part of a team to set up a new automated SMT line, with the idea being to keep it as hands off as possible. As part of this, one member of the team has purchased a used Cyberoptics Sentry 2000, which hasn't arrived yet. Since Cyberoptics tells me they won't support the machine or answer questions unless I pay a minimum of $2500 to buy their service package, I'll try to get an answer from the SMT knowledge experts here in the forum. Does anyone know if the Sentry 2000 can be configured to go from right to left instead of the more common left to right, and if so, is it a simple software change in a parameters setting, or does it require more effort?

The Sentry 2000 does not have its own board handling system. It fits over an existing conveyor in your line right after the printer. You can have the conveyor R-L or L-R.

With regard to your specific question, if you do decide to run the board in the opposite direction, you will not only need to reverse the conveyor, but you will also need to move the stopper arm to the opposite side of the machine from its standard position.

Also, you can place the machine in front of the line or behind the line to accomplish the same task.
