X-ray inspection services | 3 August, 2004

We are a small PCBA contract manufacturer based in Malaysia. Sometimes, our customers request us to provide X-ray inspection on BGAs. Due to our production mode is towards high-mix low-volume, it is a bit difficult justifying purchase of X-ray inspection equipment.

For the time being, we are thinking of outsourcing. Does anyone know any companies in the region who provide X-ray inspection services (voids and misalignment on BGAs)? Our volume may vary from 50-1,000 boards/month. What is the nominal X-ray inspection charges for a PCBA with 1-2 BGAs?

We know of no such service provider in Malaysia. Consider contacting major xray equipment suppliers [eg, Glenbrook. V.J. ElectroniX, Agilent, Teradyne, etc] to determine: * Service suppliers in your region. * Terms that they offer in providing xray services.

Which part of Malaysia are you located. My company, Uniwes has an entry-level X-Ray machine which has a price which will not burn a hole in your company's pocket. Please advise me .
