One thing to try : Pull the Cognex card out and physically re-seat the memory sticks. Then take a kimwipe or something comprable and wipe the card fingers off with alcohol. We have seen this before.

You don't even want to know what MPM will charge you to fix your "older" style Cognex system.(That they no longer support.)

Is your video working if it is then dont worry about it. Cognex runs the video display. Our machine reports cognex not found also. With ours we have a Cognex mounted on the side of the machine I believe it's a cognex 5,000. From what I understand the machine looks for cognex internal to the computer first and will report not found. Later in the boot and called by system it finds the unit on side. This may be configuration settings and could be software version. All versions of MPM software are specfic to the cognex version installed on machine. When we bought our machine from a used dealer they had installed the wrong software. We ended up getting RETROfit from MPM specfically for cognex 5,000 as the 2,000 was the orignal installed version.

There is so much confusion about this cognex not reconized statement, and it's time to step in. The box on the out side is a cognex 2000 system. The reason for the cognex not reconized statement is very simple. MPM wrote the 4.1y software looking for the cognex 5000 system. But the machine runs very well with 4.1y and 4.11 software. You turn on the board light and select the live video. If you see a image the camera system is working just fine. Once the machine starts booting up the 31/2 reader ( in the box on the side) starts reading the floppy, the problem is that the machine finishes booting up befor the info on the floppy is loaded. The solution is simple don't touch the mouse till about 20 second after the gray start screen pop up. MPM and cognex does not support or sell the processer boxes ( the one on the side) any longer. We do and at this time we have about 5 of them. Brian's problem was not any thing to do with the vision. He simply had to many programs loaded in the hard drive. The good sound rule is don't try to load any more than 190 programs on your 386 computers. The 2D inspection takes up a lot of memory space. I knew this was going to be a long reply, but felt it was needed. Good luck and I hoped this helped some one.

I work for a CM that is a principle PCBA supplier for Cognex. We have not seen these legacy systems in many, many years. However, the cognex 8000, IS1000, IS2000 systems are still running strong in many OEM vision applications (especially recently with equipment sales up).

I have a UP2000 that gives a funny error, "camera fuse blown". However, it doesn't inhibit the boot or stop the basic functionality of the machine.

Hello Ken We need to know if your in the USA? Would appreciate a phone call if you are. Have seen the fuse blown statement before, most of the time after the hard drive has been replaced. The # is 740-344-4260 Thank Harry

Hey Harry,

This is interesting....I left your secretary 2-3 messages over the last moth or so to purchase one of those 5 processor boxes from you. Do you no longer require our business, or are you just not getting your messages?

Not that I really care, but I would just like to know if I should take my business somewhere else.

Please advise... Regards

FYI, if you really do have a hardware problem, theoretically Cognex will repair your 2000 series system. Have not tried it myself but the number should be 508-650-6300.

Anyone have any sucess putting pentium PC's in an AP?

Hello Sr. tech We haven't received any e-mails or calls from you that we know of. Yes once in a while one does fall thru the cracks. If that did happen we are sorry. I make a lot of service calls on MPM's and live on the cell phone. Thanks for your input and will try to better our responses. Harry
