Lead Free parts in Lead solder

Lead Free parts in Lead solder | 16 March, 2005

Hello all,

I've heard mixed reviews on this subject. Can anyone point out some data on the integrity of lead free parts that are soldered with lead solder. I think that we're probably ALL running into this during this Pb-free transition period.

There's lots of data out there on complete Pb-free v.s. SnPB, but I've found that people aren't too forthcoming with their knowledge on this "mixed technology" subject...

Thanks in advance!

Will

hi,

what we have learnt is lead free parts are ok to use with lead solder except BGA where you have to be carefull at reflow.

This condition has been discussed on numerous occasions in this forum. Please do a search in the archives. Anyway, the manufacturing industry has been using lead free parts for at least ten years with lead paste. It is the other way around that is not so good.
