We are looking at switching to UV cure for faster throughput. Does anyone know of any cost effective coating manufacturers? The pricing we are getting back are around $250.00 a gallon in 5 gal pails. This is more than twice what we pay for our current coating.

There's some nice low-VOC uV coatings out there. We don�t use uV cured coatings, but try: * http://www.emersoncuming.com

Be aware that uV coatings: * Cure poorly with big and small component ranges, because of variation in coating thickness. * Dewet with sharp edges [search for a recent thread on SMTnet]

G Naisbitt once said, "Switching to UV curable [from a moisture cure] does not aid your fast cure requirement. As it is so difficult to bend light - at least that's what I read! Curing under components is a major problem and it becomes necessary to add secondary cure mechanisms to the formulation that impacts other areas: pot life, shelf life and "keep in the dark". Your equipment becomes more expensive and fume extraction is a must, as ozone is a harmful by-product of UV light generation."
