Is it now acceptable to discard the SAC alloy directly into the trash or is it still a requirement to dispose of through hazmat procedures. Seems to me that we can now just chuck the old paste right into the normal trash since it is the replacement for the hazardous (lead)material?

It would depend on your jurisdiction. ROHS is european. You would have to check with your own country requirements. Even your municipality might have restrictions, not to mention your state/province. And don't look for logic or consistancy in polital matters.

No kidding?

I am having a hard time trying to figure out how you go about determining your levels of waste and also where to find "hazardous material" classifications for my area. I am in Colorado in the U.S.A. if anyone can help.

We agree Russ. The government information is very confusing. University types have the time, resources, and patience to figure that stuff-out [and hopefully the inclination to steer others in the correct direction].

I'm really wondering about the gloves and wipes. We also reclaim all metal and get paid but, we have to pay for the jars, wipes, tubes, etc... We always come out $ ahead so I'm really more curious than anything.
