V-TEK is one of the largest U.S. distributors for major international and domestic brands of carrier and cover tape, as well as related supplies. Our extensive inventory of tape and supplies allows us to ship same day.

Carrier Tape

V-TEK provides custom designed carrier tape pockets to your exact device dimensions. All carrier tape is manufactured in accordance with EIA standards and made from three primary materials:

• Polycarbonate: A black plastic material with tighter tolerances for better part capture. It is used primarily for smaller and thinner electrostatically-sensitive electrical and electronic devices. Polycarbonate carrier tape is available in non-conductive (NCPC), static-dissipative (SDPC), and conductive (CPC) formats.
• Polystyrene: The most commonly used material for carrier tape. It is used for larger components requiring less precise pocket forms. Polystyrene carrier tape is available in static-dissipative (SDPS), and conductive (CPS) formats.
• Paper: Paper tape is used for passive components, typically in the 0201 up to 1210 device size range. It is available in half-punched or press pocket format.

Cover Tape

V-TEK stocks cover tapes that are compatible with our carrier tape selections—including heat activated and pressure sensitive—in 8-56mm widths. Wider tape is available upon request.

Take-Up Reels

Take-up Reels are as important to the tape and reel process as the carrier and cover tape. V-TEK stocks take-up reels from multiple manufacturers. Standard widths are 8-56mm and diameters are 7" and 13", Larger sizes available upon request.

• 3 Piece Assembly:  Hub based take-up reels use a center hub that is pre-sized to the carrier tape width. Outside flanges are added to the hub to complete the assembly.
• 2 Piece Assembly:  Take-up reels utilize pre-formed hub's, differing in width. The halves are configured to manage different reel widths. The combining of any two widths produces an EIA standard reel.

Tape Splicing Supplies

Tape Splicing Supplies including clear tape, tape splicers, paper and plastic flat tape in strips or reels for leader trailer, plastic embossed flat tape 8-24mm in strips or reels

ESD Supplies

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) Supplies including moisture barrier bags, static shielding bags, protective bands, desiccant and HIC's. We also assist in analyzing your needs for ESD protection and help you order the correct supplies.
