ESE screen printers outperform high-end models from the best-known manufacturers, yet cost less. The advanced-design printers are manufactured in Korea to the highest quality standards. All major components are controlled by high-precision servo motors instead of stepping motors and belts. A unique printing-table design allows even pressure across the entire board, increasing repeatability, while 2-D paste inspection is included as standard.

The ESE printing-table conveyor system does not have a fixed front or rear rail as with conventional printers. Instead, adjustable front and rear rails position the PCB directly over the center of the table, allowing consistent, high-precision paste printing for components down to 01005 (0402 metric) and pitches to 0.012 in. (0.3 mm). The ESE printers’ programmable five-stage snap-off function further contributes to their high printing quality.

An easy-to-use plunger mechanism enables quick stencil changeover, increasing productivity. In addition, the incoming and outgoing conveyor system features a patented one-touch width adjustment that uses LM guides instead of ball screws, for quick, trouble-free operation.

A Cognex® vision system features an up-down CCD camera and four separate LED rings — three for the PCB and one for the stencil — for fast, accurate recognition of PCB and stencil fiducial marks, as well as real-time 2-D paste inspection. A closed-loop feedback option allows automatic calibration of printing registration and adjustment of the stencil spray cleaning system by a downstream solder-paste inspection (SPI) system.

The ESE stencil spray-cleaning system features programmable wet, dry, vacuum and air-blow modes, for fast, thorough cleaning. The solvent tank is conveniently located on the side of the machine, eliminating the need to stop production for refilling.

Other outstanding features include a mechanism to prevent the edges of the cleaning paper from fraying and a programmable paper saver. User-friendly ESE software, which runs on the familiar Windows operating system, allows efficient programming of PCBs and easy access to maintenance and manufacturing data.
