Philips selects Carat International

Amsterdam, The Netherlands, June 21, 2001 - Royal Philips Electronics

of the Netherlands (AEX: PHI, NYSE: PHG) announced today that it has

selected Carat International as its global consumer media agency.

After a four-month worldwide selection process, Carat was selected as

the agency that best satisfied all set criteria on a global basis.

With this win, Carat becomes the one media agency for Philips

worldwide. Carat already serves the Philips B2B account and is also

the incumbent media agency for Europe. Mediavest will continue to work

in Latin America.

Carat will provide the consumer divisions with communications

strategy, media strategy and planning as well as buying. Its

investment in front-end analytics, modeling and research tools offer a

solid basis for developing important strategic communications insights

and solutions.
