Using social media as a medium for communication is beneficial to SMTA membership on a global level because it can be accessed by anyone, at any time, anywhere in the world. In that sense, the coverage on Twitter allows everyone, including those who cannot be present, to participate in the discussion, and/or the ability to follow the conference in real time and even participate in the discussion. The conversation will be actively followed by SMTA staff throughout the conference, which will provide yet another source for the most current information during the event.
The dialogue feed will be served in real time on the SMTAI home page, http://www.smta.org/smtai. The conversation can also be followed at http://www.Twitter.com by performing a search for #smtai09.
How to join the conversation:
- Sign up or login at twitter.com
- Send a tweet including the hashtag #smtai09 somewhere within the allotted 140 characters.
(example tweet: #smtai09 opening session in the California Room has a great presentation right now!)
