Zero-Ion g3 ionic contamination tester is one of the industry’s most popular Resistivity of Solvent Extract (ROSE) testers

Zero-Ion g3 ionic contamination tester is one of the industry’s most popular Resistivity of Solvent Extract (ROSE) testers

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA - Aqueous Technologies Corp. announces that it will feature its Trident III and Trident Duo automatic defluxing and cleanliness testing systems, along with its Zero-Ion G3 and StencilWasher-ECO technologies in booth 725 at the upcoming IPC/APEX conference and exhibition, scheduled to take place April 6-8, 2010 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV.

Trident III is capable of removing all flux residues including rosin, no-clean and water soluble. Both lead and lead-free flux residues may be removed using the system, and it is equipped with an automatic chemical injection system that automatically adds a programmable volume of defluxing chemical to the wash water.

Trident III is equipped with a closed-loop wash solution recycling system. Wash solution is heated automatically and sprayed onto the assemblies. At the end of the wash cycle, the wash solution is directed back to the holding tank for subsequent reuse. Also equipped with a real-time cleanliness tester, rinse water is then sprayed onto the assemblies until the desired cleanliness level is achieved. All rinse water is directed through the pre-drain filtration system and then sent to drain. Assemblies are dried via the onboard convection and radiant forced air drying system.

Trident III is equipped with a host of standard features including programmable maintenance reminders, remote SPC viewing, SPC data USB export and a built-in chemical management system. An optional zero-discharge evaporation system eliminates connection to a drain line.

The automatic defluxing system is reportedly the fastest batch-format defluxing system available. Trident’s specific throughput rate is determined by board size and cleanliness setting. The Trident III is capable of defluxing and cleanliness testing up to 200 4 x 6" (101 x 152 mm) boards and up to 28 18 x 20" (457 x 508 mm) boards per hour.

The Trident Duo High-Yield Automatic Defluxing and Cleanliness Testing System provides a cost-effective alternative to inline defluxing systems. While most inline defluxing systems consume and discharge as much as 5 gallons (19 liters) of deionized water PER MINUTE, Trident High-Yield defluxing systems use between 0.5 - 2 gallons (1.8 - 7.5 liters) per minute, a reduction of up to 60 percent.

The Trident Duo is equipped with two autonomous defluxing chambers. Each chamber is controlled by a dedicated computer controller and may be operated with different defluxing chemistries for maximum flexibility. Additionally, each defluxing chamber is equipped with independent cleanliness testing capabilities and recallable SPC data records. Unlike any inline defluxing system, the Trident Duo is capable of high throughput levels and built-in cleanliness testing.

Also on display at the show, the Zero-Ion g3 Ionic Contamination (Cleanliness) Tester is designed to test electronics assemblies for ionic contamination. It automatically removes and detects contamination on an electrical assembly or bare board and provides quantitative contamination measurements. The Zero-Ion g3 uses a dynamic technology that provides automatic regeneration of the machine’s test solution, maintaining a high degree of test solution sensitivity. The Zero-Ion meets the requirements of military and commercial cleanliness testing standards including MIL 2000A, IPC test method 001, MIL-C-28809, MIL-P-55110 and IPC TM650-2.3.26.

The Zero-Ion has been reviewed by the U.S. Naval Air Weapons Center and determined to be the most sensitive ionic contamination tester available. The Zero-Ion also has been determined to be 3.7 times more sensitive than the manual resistivity of solvent extract (R.O.S.E.) test. The Zero-Ion performs cleanliness tests automatically and features a Windows PC-based control platform with a 15" LCD touchscreen interface.

The StencilWasher-ECO Ultrasonic Cleaning system also will be exhibited and provides both fast and efficient solder paste removal at a very economical price. The ultrasonic cleaner is designed to remove all solder paste types including no-clean, rosin, and water soluble.

Unlike competitive models, StencilWasher-ECO comes standard-equipped with all of the features required for thorough wash, rinse, dry, and filtration functions, eliminating the need to purchase costly optional items.

StencilWasher-ECO is equipped with powered and filtered wash and rinse tank drain systems for easy and safe discharge. An adjustable wash cycle timer automatically controls the wash tank's immersion transducers. A hand-held rinse wand and airknife provide fast and thorough rinsing and drying functions.
