Science, Technology and Networking Exemplify IPC APEX EXPO Special Events

Jan 28, 2013

Known for providing a wealth of networking opportunities, IPC APEX EXPO® is again offering numerous special events to help attendees gain valuable information while connecting with other professionals in the industry, including three keynote presentations designed to inspire innovation.

Sponsored by IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries®, IPC APEX EXPO will take place February 19–21, 2013, at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, Calif.
Among the highly anticipated special events is a free opening keynote by Dr. Michio Kaku. Known for popularizing physics through his Discovery Channel specials and best-selling books, Kaku will kick off the event with an intriguing keynote exploring life and technology in the year 2100, followed by a book signing of Physics of the Future, available for purchase on-site. Other free keynote presentations feature former General Motors executive Dr. Larry Burns on “Reinventing the Automobile” and Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) chief engineer B. Gentry Lee recapping the fascinating “Journey to Mars: Curiosity Rover Mission.”

The special events at the show add tremendous value for attendees,” says Alicia Balonek, IPC senior director of trade shows and events. “Most of the events are free with registration — whether you pre-register for free exhibit hall admission or sign up for our most comprehensive educational package. Where else can you see a rock-star like Michio Kaku at no charge?”

Several events will take place on the show floor, including the IPC/NPL Cleaning and Contamination Center, where attendees can get expert guidance on new cleaning and contamination monitoring processes and learn how to tackle reliability failures.
Two hand soldering contests will also heat up the show floor, first as competitors strive to win the IPC APEX EXPO Hand Soldering Competition — and then as the winner faces off with victors from other competitions around the world in the inaugural IPC Hand Soldering World Championship.

Multiple free networking opportunities will also be available for attendees throughout the event, including an International Reception, First-Timers’ Welcome Breakfast, Government Relations Committee Open Forum, Show Floor Reception, Women in Electronics Networking Meeting and IPC Tech Talk Breakfast.

Many of the special events as well as access to the exhibit hall are free to pre-registrants, a savings of $25 on-site. Details, including dates and times, are available at www.IPCAPEXEXPO.org/special-events. To register for IPC APEX EXPO, go to www.IPCAPEXEXPO.org/register.
