NEPCON South China 2011 to feature exciting onsite activities
As well as a diverse array of exhibits, NEPCON South China 2011 will feature a variety of topical and popular conferences. Together, the displays and seminars will highlight development trends in electronics manufacturing markets and technologies. From August 30 to September 1, NEPCON South China, the largest trade platform, with the most extensive reach and longest pedigree of South China’s trade fairs, will be held at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center. This year’s event will again feature a host of exciting activities running parallel to the exhibition.
Each activity in the NEPCON South China portfolio is centered around innovative new industry-leading technologies. The concurrently run programs are set to attract numerous renowned companies. In order to drive the development of China’s electronics manufacturing technologies, enhance the country’s innovative ability and set even higher standards for service quality, these participating companies, many of them industry leaders, will closely examine the current state of electronics manufacturing and development trends in industry technologies. The SMTA China South Conference, organized by SMTA China, is a landmark in the region’s SMT industry. Here, important issues in electronics manufacturing, advanced packaging and lead-free reliability are set to be widely discussed. Alongside this event, the three-day Technology and Vendor Conference will analyze environmental protection issues, advanced processes and emerging technologies. Also onsite, SMTA China will offer other lively programs. These will include a technology workshop, the SMTA Engineer Certification program, and the SMTA China (HK Chapter) Breakfast.
China recently has overtaken the US to become the largest automobile market in the world. Due to the increasing manufacturing costs of automobile electronics year on year, the market research firm iSuppli estimates that the country is set to also overhaul the US in the automobile electronics market. The volume of sales for China-made automobile electronics is set to reach USD 20.6 billion by 2012. China is vigorously promoting green technologies and increasing investment in R&D into this sector at the same time. The newly launched 12th Five-Year Plan for Economic Development highlights the central Chinese government’s desire to increase investment in new automobile electronic technologies. Consequently, the application of energy-efficient solutions, alternate energy and mobile web applications in automobiles is an increasingly popular industry topic.
On August 30, the 2011 EDN China Automotive Electronics Forum will be held at NEPCON South China. Technology experts from leading IC and component manufacturers will discuss the latest automobile electronics technologies, products and solutions. The forum will be structured around green electronics issues and topics to be covered include:

- Body control
- In-vehicle networks
- The integration of mobile internet and entertainment systems into the design of intelligent automobiles

Additionally, professionals from top automotive companies like Linear, Maxim, Yokogawa, Tyco Electronics, LeCroy and PTC will give detailed analyses of the trend toward greener automobile electronics solutions.
In recent years, the sustained rapid development of China's microelectronics manufacturing, semiconductor, automotive electronics, medical electronics and communication electronics industries has resulted in the market’s growing need for electrostatic prevention products and services. Therefore, the Electrostatic Prevention Technology Forum, hosted by the Antistatic Equipment Branch of the China Electronic Instrument Industry Association, and supported by the Shanghai and Shenzhen Anti-Static Industry Associations, is a timely event that will take place on August 31 in the NEPCON Theater. The forum, titled “Technical requirements in the Antistatic Working Area”, will decode the new national standards on antistatic vitrified tiles. It also will examine national military standard GJB3007-2009, as well as ESD electronic standards and the systems applied in China and abroad.
Themed “How SMT Engineers Can Better Use SMT Home to Add Value”, the Engineers’ Salon and SMT Home Member Gathering, organized by SMT Home, will be an open communication channel through which forum moderators and internet associates will be able to discuss the industry’s hot topics. To attract SMT Home members to the numerous interactive sessions to be held during the meeting, complimentary commemorative T-shirts will be given out.
In keeping with the tradition of integrating a number of key industry forums, this year’s NEPCON South China exhibition will introduce a new way for buyers to connect with exhibitors via the hc360.com e-commerce platform. The new NEPCON-HC Group Buying Platform, jointly organized by hc360.com and Reed Exhibitions, is an exciting option for purchasing syndicates. Buyers will be able to group together to make purchases at preferential rates. As of right now, 10 exhibitors have already made 30 types of products available for group purchase.
