The exhibition completely germinated and attracted the interests of all the serious players of the industry's market. With an objective of understanding the growing need of the EMS industry, SMT and other support industry and to showcase the best of the innovations in the technology worldwide, CNCI 2008 brought different countries to one platform.

The first/debut edition of CNCI in Chennai witnessed the presence of eminent personalities including Mr. C.Umashanker, MD, ELCOT, Mr. Swaran, CEO, Electronics Today, Mr. N K Goyal, President, TEMA, Mr. D.Raghunathan, Head Electronics, PRICOL amongst others. Mr. Mandeep Singh, COO, Reed Exhibitions, delivered this year's keynote address. While acknowledging the success of the show, The First edition itself saw a participation of well known brands like Transtechnology Pte Ltd, Omron Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., Agilient Technologies, Indium Corporation of America, Saki Asia Pacific Pte Ltd., WKK Distribution Ltd. amongst others. CNCI 2008 also had a special addition of an automotive components pavilion, Chennai being the hub of auto/auto ancillary industry. COMPONEX NEPCON is the only platform where buyers and sellers from the EMS (Electronic Manufacturing Services) industry can get together nationally and internationally to showcase their latest technology. Chennai's contribution to the components industry has been consistent and noteworthy. It's still the technical capital of the country and hence its contribution to the EMS industry has been quite natural. CNCI 2008 brought the world to the Chennai showcasing their products. The participants from different countries like Singapore, U.K., China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and others brought their international brands to Chennai. The show featured more than 200 participating companies of exhibitors showcasing their products to the world like Bharat Dynamics, Panasonic, HCL, DRDO, Samsung, Salcomp amongst others.
CNCI 2008 featured Technology Forum where exhibitors presented their latest technology to the visitors on technology implementation and latest & emerging technologies and its impact on their facilities. The latest addition to the forum was a special feature of automotive components pavilion featuring the automotive products & services, for visitors to see and keep abreast with the latest technology available. CNCI 2008 witnessed participation from the region and new products from the city were launched at the event.
The major associations and bodies of the electronic industry like ELCOT an IT arm of the Government of Tamil Nadu for implementing its IT Policy, IPCA, ELIAP, CLICK, IMDA, TEMA, AIREA that are largely established by a team of dedicated businesspersons supported the exhibition. The objective was to foster sustained industrial development in the region. The Associations act as a bridge between its members and overseas business communities to promote bilateral trade by organizing activities to promote trade, investment, technology-transfer and manpower training, and COMPONEX NEPCON Chennai India 2008 was one of that initiative.
CNCI 2008 witnessed the unveiling of the latest technical know-how in the industry during its three-day tenure. This year's exhibition focused on a completely on Surface Mount Technology. SMT is a method for constructing electronic circuits in which the components (SMC or Surface Mounted Components) are mounted directly onto the surface of printed circuit boards (PCBs). In the industry it has largely replaced the through-hole technology construction method of fitting components with wire leads into holes in the circuit board. A host of new products were launched during the event by both national and international exhibitors.
The city of Chennai is well known for its great infrastructure and connectivity, which not only smoothen the transport but also compliments a pleasant stay. The city has two international airports and five national highways, which are all well connected in a much planned out manner. Chennai is the heart of South India and hence it's been chosen as the venue for COMPONEX NEPCON's second chapter of the year.
