Dec 17, 2009 On December 7, Reed Exhibitions and Chengdu Municipal Government held a cooperation agreement signing ceremony at the Chengdu Jinjiang Hotel. The attendees included Ge Honglin, Mayor of Chengdu Municipal Government; Wang Zhonglin, Deputy Mayor; Preecha S. Chen, President of Reed Exhibitions Greater China; Sun Gang, Senior Vice President of Reed Exhibitions Greater China and Josephine Lee, Vice President of Reed Exhibitions Group, East China.
Wang Zhonglin, and Preecha S. Chen spoke at the ceremony. Mr. Chen and Chen Lin, the head of the Chengdu Conference and Exhibition Industry Development Office and administrative Vice Chairman of Chengdu Trade Promotion Committee ratified the cooperation agreement. The agreement will see NEPCON West China become a permanent fixture in Chengdu, run by Reed Exhibitions Group.
The launch of NEPCON in Chengdu means that Reed Exhibitions will bring an excellent, home-grown brand into the middle and Western regions of China for the first time. During the signing ceremony, Preecha S. Chen said that a growing number of foreign microelectronics equipment and technology suppliers had shifted their focus to this region because of the increasing demand for this type of equipment and technology in Western China. As the capital of Sichuan Province, Chengdu has attracted many internationally renowned enterprises that invest in and build electronics manufacturing bases, and seek to work with local enterprises in Sichuan. Such companies include Intel and Huawei Technology. Nepcon West China will be an exceptional showcase for the electronics manufacturing industry in central and Western China. It also will provide leading global exhibitors with an opportunity to display their products and technologies in this region and help companies in central and Western China to improve their competitiveness, source potential suppliers and keep up-to-date with the latest market information.
The NEPCON brand features the innovations and technologies of the global electronics manufacturing industry, as well as the surface mount industry. NEPCON China’s series of events covers each of the major electronics manufacturing centers in China. These include NEPCON China (held in Shanghai in April), NEPCON South China (held in Shenzhen in August) and Bohai Electronics Week (held in Tianjin in November). In recent years, the electronics and information industry in West China has been growing steadily. Sichuan will become the center of the fourth largest electronics and information industry cluster base behind the Zhujiang River Delta, the Yangtze River Delta and the Circum-Bohai-Sea regions. There is huge potential to develop the electronics and information industry. NEPCON will seize this opportunity, accommodate market needs and strategically help customers to take full advantage of the growing business opportunities in these areas.
NEPCON events are the only electronics production equipment exhibitions supported by both the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and SMTA International. Wang Zhonglin, Deputy Mayor of Chengdu Municipal Government, was delighted at the new partnership. He explained that Chengdu becoming the permanent home of NEPCON West China is the result of Chengdu expediting the construction of its conference and exhibition capital construction and promoting the conference and exhibition industry towards “internationalization, specialization and brand building.” Chengdu will make every effort to drive the construction of the conference and exhibition and provide a full range of high quality services for the exhibition. Chengdu and Reed Exhibitions will jointly construct the venue into an efficient, highly specialized international exhibition.
Many exhibitors from NEPCON Shanghai and NEPCON South China have already affirmed their interest in exhibiting in Western China. Several seminars will be run during NEPCON West China to facilitate better synergy between the Western region’s electronics manufacturing industry and international companies. The seminars also will be geared towards helping members of the industry source technology solutions and learn about the latest technologies that can enhance the electronics and microelectronics industries across the West China region.
