Green Lighting Shanghai Expo and Forum 2010 Enjoys Successful Debut

May 20, 2010

Green Lighting Shanghai Expo and Forum 2010, run by Reed Exhibitions and the China Solid State Lighting Alliance (CSA), came to a successful close at the Shanghai Everbright Convention & Exhibition Center in April. The event drew the participation of lighting industry giants like Philips, Astri, Cyber Energy, Shanghai Sansi, BYD, Everfine, Mingxin, Zhongwei Photoelectricity. It was an exceptional showcase of the latest products and technology solutions. Altogether, the three-day event attracted a total of 4,665 visitors and buyers.

This inaugural Green Lighting event focused on how to improve the level of novel light technologies and applications, in order to promote the combined application of novel light and energy sources lighting. Towards this aim, the show covered the full industry chain, including upstream epitaxial materials growth and chip preparation; midstream devices; module packaging and downstream lighting. Visitors from various regions learned about cutting edge technologies and purchased innovative, energy-saving novel light and energy sources lighting products.

Zhang Ming, Deputy Manager of Zhejiang Concord Optic-Electronic Technology’s Technology Department was impressed with the combination of forum and product exhibition. A regular participant in forums organized by the China Solid State Lighting Alliance, he was very pleased to be able to take part in the exhibition at the same time this year, as it helped him understand the industry better. Mr. Zhang was also grateful for the opportunities for face-to-face communication with exhibitors, as they afforded him a chance to gain more knowledge of the products on display and make purchasing decisions. Zhang Songlin, President of Suzhou Construction Decoration Design, was also deeply satisfied with the event. He believes Green Lighting will drive industry development and generate opportunities for cooperation among companies. The event also featured ten product seminars to add an instructional element to this new show that focuses on developments in the lighting industry. The influential speakers and wonderful topics on-site also captivated the visitors’ attention.

As the only exhibition and forum focusing on novel light and energy sources lighting in China, Green Lighting was highly appreciated by the exhibitors. It was Cyber Energy’s first foray into novel light and energy sources lighting. At the show, the company met plenty of visitors. Raymond Lam, Senior Manager of the Corporate Affairs & Communication said that Green Lighting is the perfect channel through which to contact clients from the Chinese mainland and penetrate that market. During the match-making activities arranged by the organizers, Yu Weiming, Vice General Manager of Waichi, met with contractors of lighting projects; builders and administrators of road lighting projects; government departments responsible for construction and environment protection and several other influential bodies. All of them were key potential buyers and Mr. Yu is convinced that such connections will be instrumental to the success of their business development in China, especially East China. Dong Liang, Vice General Manager of Hang Zhou Zhongwei Photoelectricity met many visitors from East China, and expressed a hope that the China Solid State Lighting Alliance and Reed Exhibitions will continue to work together to build up a sustained platform for the industry

The concurrent forum held by the China Solid State Lighting Alliance featured 787 experts from local and international industry organizations, academies and research institutions. Senior management executives from world famous companies shared their insights into the latest advancement of novel light and energy sources lighting around the world and further discussed the industry, its policies, technologies, markets, key application models and standard inspections.

The forum saw the application of LED in the expo pavilions and witness strong competition among LED, HFED, metal halogen lamps, high-pressure sodium lamps and other lighting sources. Wu Ling, Secretary General of the China Solid State Lighting Alliance, declared that, in its debut year, Green Lighting 2010 had produced unexpectedly excellent results. The “exhibition + forum” model will be maintained in the future to provide constructive solutions for the novel light and energy sources lighting industry, and to keep the channels for dialog open.

Through the first-time combination of the exhibition and forum, a new chapter in novel light and energy sources lighting industry has begun. Josephine Lee, Vice President of Reed Exhibitions East China, firmly believes that the novel light and energy sources lighting industry is on the verge of enjoying numerous more opportunities – fuelled by large projects such as “Ten Cities Ten Thousand LED Lights” and Expo 2010 Shanghai. Reed Exhibitions will continue to work closely with the China Solid State Lighting Alliance to deliver the premier event of the novel light and energy sources lighting industry
