Balver Zinn Group Launches New No-Clean VOC-Free and Low-VOC Fluxes

Breda, Holland - Cobar BV, a member of the Balver Zinn Group, announces the launch of a whole new range of VOC-free and Low-VOC fluxes at Productronica. Being showcased in Stand 570 in Hall A4, these RoHS compliant fluxes fulfil the need for more environmental-friendly materials, maintaining excellent soldering performance. The event is scheduled to take place 10th – 13th November at the New Munich Trade Fair Center in Munich, Germany.

The thermally stable new Cobar fluxes offers a wide process window with top-side preheat temperatures of up to 150°C. Due to the strong thermal resistance, these fluxes can be utilized in a very broad range of applications, such as high thermal mass and heavy multi-layer products which require extended and higher soldering conditions. This latest Cobar activation system eliminates bridging and provides excellent through-hole filling for lead-free as well as leaded applications.

396-DRX

According to IPC-J-STD-004 the Cobar 396-DRX is classified as ORL0. It contains no halides and is based on a water carrying system which will provide advantages in transportation and storage conditions and eliminate fire risks. Operators will also appreciate that it provides an odourless flux solution. After soldering the Cobar 396-DRX-M flux produces extremely clean PCB surfaces, leaving no visible residues. 396-DRX-M

The Cobar 396-DRX-M flux is a higher activated version of the 396-DRX resulting in a higher acid number. It will have a more robust process in terms of TH-filling and reducing shorts. According to IPC-J-STD-004 the Cobar 396-DRX-M is classified as ORM0, giving a moderate activation and containing no halides.

396-DRM

For the toughest applications one can use the Cobar 396-DRM also classified as ORM0. With this flux the activation is even further increased. Main utilization fields for this product are industrial and consumer electronics applications

396-BSG

According to IPC-J-STD-004 the Cobar 396-BSG is classified as REL1. It is based on a carrying system that is a combination of water and Alcohol which will offer “best of both worlds” advantages. After soldering the Cobar 396-BSG flux produces extremely clean PCB surfaces, leaving no visible residues. The special formulation reduces the formation of solder balls dramatically. PSM-AF

Its full name “Peelable Solder Mask - Ammonia Free” results in the abbreviation PSM-AF. This ammonia free version of the PSM-45 is developed to create a healthy working environment for the operators, as well as a high reliability version of ammonia containing competitors. The lack of Ammonia results in the PSM-AF in a non-corrosive temporary solder/coating protection. Especially with the NiAu pad finishes which have very often attacked areas when using a non-Ammonia free alternative.
