Multitest, a designer and manufacturer of final test handlers, contactors and load boards used by integrated device manufacturers (IDMs) and final test subcontractors worldwide, announces that Klaus Ruhmer will present at Test Vision 2020, in conjunction with SEMICON West, scheduled to take place July 10-11, 2013 at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. The presentation, entitled “Minimizing Cost of Calibration and Test (COCT) to drive cost reduction of MEMS,” will address the various approaches to reduce COCT for MEMS with a focus on so-called “combo-sensors” that combine more than one MEMS device in a single package.
What used to be a technology driven by high-end automotive and medical applications has become a true commodity: MEMS. Any state-of-the-art electronic gadget ― be it a mobile phone, a tablet or a camera ― makes extensive use of MEMS components. Gyroscopes, accelerometers, pressure sensors, magnetometers, microphones and other devices have to be manufactured, calibrated and fully tested at the lowest possible cost. COCT is now the single most significant cost factor for a majority of MEMS sensors particularly in consumer applications. At the same time, many safety and health related MEMS applications remain extremely demanding on device reliability. Therefore, precise device calibration and rigorous testing continue to be critical requirements.
Klaus Ruhmer has Business Development responsibility for Multitest in the United States. Klaus joined Multitest in 2013 after 14 years in the semiconductor industry and a brief stint in renewable fuels. Over the years Klaus has held varying positions in engineering, sales and marketing. Klaus is a native from Austria and earned a degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Technology. He moved to the US in 1996 and resides in Austin, TX.
