Buoyed by strong 3D AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) business coupled with tremendous 3D SPI (Solder Paste Inspection) growth, Koh Young finished 2017 as its most successful year with double-digit annual sales growth.
In particular, the consistent sales growth reflects the industry’s confidence in the Koh Young 3D SPI and 3D AOI product quality and full defect detection. Koh Young can even provide real-time process optimization with powerful SPC analytics to minimize or potentially eliminate defects that can increase rework costs or compromise product reliability.
This broad-based growth confirms Koh Young is the undisputed leader in 3D measurement and inspection systems. Over the course of 2017, Koh Young continued pushing into new frontiers and driving innovation across many industries with its unique “Challenger DNA.” The company also expanded its strategic partnerships with leading equipment providers to fully harness the power of connectivity. This effort qualified the Zenith as the first APC-ready 3D AOI certified for 0201M components. Beyond its technological advancements, Koh Young celebrated its 15-year anniversary by achieving its biggest milestones yet – installing its 11,000th inspection system.
Product Launches
Koh Young did not sit idle with its best-selling equipment during the year. In 2017, it introduced several new innovations including the Zenith 2 AOI and KY-P3 pin inspection solution. Each based on the unique true 3D imaging and dynamic warp compensation technologies found at the core of Koh Young. Both new inspection systems are designed to overcome long-standing industry challenges like long programming time and high false call rates. While the next generation 3D AOI Zenith 2 makes programming faster and simpler with advanced features like Auto-Programming, the KY-P3 inspection system guarantees a drastic reduction in false calls and eliminates escapes with reliable, accurate measurement across many pin configurations.
Major Milestones
Koh Young achieved two major milestones in 2017. First, it celebrated its 15-year anniversary. Since its founding, Koh Young has dedicated itself to providing innovative solutions to improve the inspection process. The industry recognizes this focus. In 2017, Koh Young installed its 11,000th inspection system at Dynamic Manufacturing, a Matric Group company based in Freeport, Pennsylvania, USA. The Zenith installation further solidifies Koh Young’s position as the inspection market leader. Indeed, its 3D AOI Zenith Series has been booming in 4Q 2017, which delivered its best performance in the 15-year company history. Coupled with powerful software, the Zenith series collects enormous amount of data, which helps engineers gain detailed insight to make faster, better decisions.
Smarter Solutions
Looking forward, Koh Young is expanding its market influence across industries with the power of AI (Artificial Intelligence). The company has been progressively implementing the latest AI technology to many aspects of its business.
