“The acquisition of NRC broadens our manufacturing capacity and adds a proven manufacturing team led by Ratha Chea, president and founder of NRC,” said Alta Manufacturing CEO Craig Arcuri.
Prior to founding NRC, Ratha Chea was co-founder of Orion Manufacturing, which grew to $40M before its acquisition by CTS in 2008. Ratha was responsible for all manufacturing operations and led his team to new production heights. Additionally, he created a low-cost, high-capacity production facility that provided expansive benefits to Orion’s customers.
This acquisition is another key step in the growth of Alta Manufacturing. The company has a strategic five-year plan to grow into a significant Tier 2 presence in the contract manufacturing industry, and this acquisition is a vital part of the plan. With Alta’s Fremont factory focusing on NPI, pilot and domestic production, and its China factory focusing on both pilot and production, the company can provide customers with the offerings of a Tier 1 contract manufacturer but with the flexibility and responsiveness of a smaller company.
Alta Manufacturing was founded in 1998. Since that time it has become a leader in PCBA. Company roots can be traced back to Altatron, which was acquired by Flextronics in 1998. The sole founder, Mr. Lee, put together a team comprised of 20 years experience from Altatron to compete in the highly competitive industry of PCBA. Mr. Lee’s untimely death in 2008 provided a true test for the company’s character and from that sad event, the company has rededicated itself to honoring Mr. Lee’s legacy. Today, Alta has grown to more than 200 employees in two factories in the United States and China, and provides NPI to production contract manufacturing services, PCB layout and full turnkey material support while retaining the flexibility and aggressiveness of a small company.
