Jul 03, 2013 The SMTA announced the addition of a new symposium to the SMTA International conference program. The symposium will focus on counterfeit electronics and will take place Thursday, October 17, 2013 in Fort Worth, Texas. Organized by SMTA International Technical Committee member Bill Cardoso, Ph.D., Creative Electron, the symposium will provide a forum to discuss changes in the electronic parts supply chain and how an organization performs part selection and management through the entire life cycle of the parts.
The first session covering New Technologies for the Detection of Counterfeit Components will feature presentations on Counterfeit Avoidance International Certification, Copper IC Inspection, and Data Fusion for Augmented Electronic Counterfeit Detection Efficacy.
The second session focusing on Counterfeit Components and Supply Chain Management will feature presentations on a New Air Force Directive, Supply Chain Roles and the Authorized Channel, and Cross-Industry Sustaining Engineering and Managing Obsolescence Counterfeit Risk.
