Need Help With Selecting Equipment | 9 April, 2006

Hi,

This setup was recommended. Target is 20,000 board output per day

FUJI GL-541 Glue Dispenser (USED) 32K FUJI GL 641 SCREEN PRINTER (USED) 57K CP-643E CHIP SHOOTER 255K (150 FEEDERS) FUJI QP-242E IP3 110K REFLOW 8 ZONE (IS THIS ANY GOOD) 48K NEW AXIAL 6241C/D USED 80K RADIAL 6360D/E USED 85K WAVE SOLDER LF 26K

What do you think of the cost/brand/equipment value? Please share your thoughts on if this is good starting equipment, and would it do the intended job.

Thanks, GE

I noticed that the GL541 can only do .12sec/dot vs the shooter at .09sec/shot. would that affect the speed of the line? Then the placer is 1.6 secs/shot.

How many parts and of what type are on each board? How many boards are on a panel?

You're overpaying by quite a lot.....especially for the placement machines.

Fuji GP 641 is really a bad choice. Bulky, heavy, accuracy is bad. At the price that you purchased, why don't you get the Dek infinity, Horizon or even a MPM UP 2000 HiE. You paid sky high price of this printer. The market value no more than $2k. At 255k, Siemens HS 50 & F5HM is a lot faster than the CP 643E & the QP 242E. 6241 & 6360 are very expensive too. Think again before you pay that price to get those equipment. At $255k, you can buy a CP 743E instead of the CP 643E.

John,

I'm not going to say anything about you being too tight to pay for an advert on account of being a northerner!

Many of the used equipment companies advertise on this site. You may want to get quotes from several of these. Jerry

So, you are going to be putting down about 3 million parts a day? How many shifts are you running? At 24 hours a day and assuming the machines never stopped placing parts (which is not possible) you would need a line that put down 125,000 parts an hour. Unless I have made an error, you will need more than you have listed. You may want to consider two lines as if you have an issue with one machine, none of them will be running.

I would not mess with Fuji screen printers or Glue dispensers.

Since we use Universal Instruments machines and are very happy with them, I would reccomend them. Fuji, Siemens and Panasonic also make good equipment for high volume applications but my experience is that they are all very $$$$$.
