The Most Difficult BGA Rework EVER!! | 8 November, 2006

Okay, here's the deal-e-o....I need to find the Nation's Best BGA Rework Specialists. I have 50 PCBs each measuring about one square inch, that need to have a BGA Ring Socket Removed, eight capacitors removed, and a new ring socket installed. Sounds simple, but...it's not. Inside the Ring Socket is a CSP component, and between the side of the CSP and the inner wall of the Ring Socket are ten 0603 X2Y Capacitors. And the board is a 12 layer board. And there's a 324 Pin Array Assembly mounted to the bottomside of the PCB that is the same exact size of the board. Does anybody know of a Rework House that they think can handle this??? I'd appreciate any help any of you gurus can provide!!! Thanks in advance!!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention this is a RoHS compliant PCB. (As if it weren't difficult enough!!)

Thank you for the Best-Tronics Suggestion. I checked out their website, and although they look to be extremely capable when it comes to cable assemblies, I saw nothing on the website that referenced SMT or BGA assembly or rework.

Have you looked at Circuit Technology Center? Check them out at: http://www.circuittechctr.com/

I've had rework done by them and they do a very good job.

Hussman, what are you smoking?

I think Hussman meant Best Inc. They do repair and offer several other neat solutions to repair. They can be found at http://solder.net/.

I tend to agree with process science's rec. They are currently doing a board with stacked BGA, and the board is around 18 by 18. Good luck.
