Hello Everyone,

Since only today I found out that MYDATA is made in Sweden and not in the U.S. and since I do not have much time on hand to figure all things about these machines. I would like your help on the following MYDATA related questions:

1) Can a 100KUSD buy a new line based on the most basic MYDAYA machine(one pick and place head, smallest feeder capacity, basic vision system, manual board handling, etc.)? 2) Does anyone out there used the MYDATA500 jet printer? If so, can that one kindly give me an input on this stencil-less printer machine? Does it really save the cost of the stencils? Or will it be just the same in terms of per-component-cost? What are the economical benefits of this machine?

Hi,

I don't want to be impolite here, but I must say that it's really weird that because your based on Syria, so you "don't want a US made machine" however I think about 95% of the people on this forum and the forum itself are USA based, so it's ok to ask their advice.

It does not really matter where equipment comes from, as the first choice should be the abilities of the machine. Anyway, most of the components in any pick and place machine would be supplied from US based companies, so it's really impossible to think your getting something without any US involvement. We live in a global world where nothing is made in one country any longer.

However I do think it's a bit hypocritical to be asking guys from the US on a US hosted forum for advice about which non USA made machine to purchase.

There is nothing impolite about your post:

1) Almost all of the German made machines are 100% German. (well, Siemens uses American software and for that they did not extend to us an offer!)

2) Since the U.S., and thanks to Bush and his like, is 100% boycotting Syria (even shipping one pack of Medicine from U.S. to Syria is banned), I must steer away from American made products as spare parts and support are a serious issue in that regard. Therefore, it is a manufacturing disaster that I acquire a machine that has no well backed support.

3) Since, and as you have mentioned, the world is becoming more of a global place where boundaries of nature and politics are becoming non-existent, and that is most especially sensed on the internet, I haven't really thought of the "hosting" country of this forum and I have not really thought of the nationality of the people on this forum.

So, can someone inform me if it is really true that 95% of the people on this forum are based in the U.S.?

In addition, the majority of the SMT machines are coming out of and operated in ASIA and Europe, so, my initial assumption that the participants are from all over is somewhat reasonable.

Perhaps you did not know about the boycotting of the US against Syria....

Last, I have taken a good look onto the MYDAYA stuff on the internet, but contacting them and getting reply from them is a long process that I was trying to shorten through a post on this website. An of-course, the most basic MYDAYA placement machine can do the job just fine (we need only 3KCPH placement rate). MYDATA seem to be very flexible and carries excellent changeover performance with easy operation.

Hi,

I can understand the problem of export from the US to Syria, as we are not US based, however almost all our components are supplied by US based companies, and are from US based manufacturers such as Analog Devices, National Semiconductor, ST Electronics etc.

We also had to sign documents with these suppliers that says we won't export any components with US origin to Syria, or and products made with these components to Syria.

I don't know for sure, but I really think it's going to be hard to get a machine with no US content. I would almost be 100% sure that even German machines would have US based parts, as US electronics companies are so globally dominant.

(Although a lot of guys on these forums complain a lot that the US is in decline in this respect, but from my perspective, I don't agree, I think the problem is contract manufacturing itself is in decline because the machines are cheaper now, and of course contract manufacturing always moves to low cost countries, as it had no IP, and is mostly a labor service.)

Good luck with your purchase, and MYDATA sounds like it would suite perfectly, as even old TP9-2U machines are available on e-bay are very low cost.

However my comment was based on your original post that said you "don't want" to purchase a US based machine, so I thought that was odd comment when asking US guys for assistance and advice.

It is a global world now, and it's exciting if your company is part of that, and can take advantages from it, however it must be very frustrating being in a country where your disconnected from part of that global economy, and cannot get spares and other things. It must be very frustrating when you can see all those shiny new machines on the net, but cannot purchase them!

Thanks Grant. I found several machines that has absolutely now American ICs or software.

Phillips makes many ICs and its HQ is in The Netherlands, STMicroelectronics HQ is in Switzerland, Samsung HQ in Korea, Infenion HQ in Germany, Hitatchi HQ Japan, Toshiba HQ Japan, etc.

And yes, I found one German machine that has absolutely no American made components having all of its IP non-American. The world can easily survive without the USA... trust me... we are doing it everyday here in Syria.

And, we can easily get many other shiny new machines that has absolutely no American made components, however, they do not suit our needs as they are made for very high volumes and low changeovers.

If I were you I'd keep my yap shut about who's responsible for which global problems, especially on a site hosted in the US. Fair enough?

That said, you can likely get a quote for a MY9 with *some* feeders, although not an ideal layout, for under $100k. I know I can. Then again, I don't go around spouting political ideology on websites.

If I couldn't get stuff from Sweden I wouldn't buy Mydata. Would you buy a Cuban machine? (if there was such a thing?)

And from what I understand the Mydata jet printer is very expensive and not worth it yet.

And I"m in Canada BTW. Where if I could vacation in Cuba but choose not to.

That is right, the USA does suck. They are a bunch of bassturds that spout how graet they are without doing anything about it. Look at them now I now they are almost gone and together we can stifle the life out of them. It is good to know Canada and Cuba are working together on this to put end to global domination.

The US told him he can not buy American. He and I never said that there is anything wrong with buying American. The fact is the US government says he cannot buy American. He needs equipment. The US government says he can't buy American, therefore he has to buy other equipment. Please explain how that is anti-American.

I am against the Fidel and his methods but I have the choice to vacation there but won't untill he and his brother are gone.

Hey Basam,

What sort of production do you have and what size boards, changeovers etc. The politics is irrelevant to the best machine for your production environment? Mydata's are not the only option and the Used market is full of good alternatives, many less expensive. As to jetting solder paste - forget it. Use a printer like the rest of the world. Much more predictable. A..

Hi,

I wondered that too, which is why I originally replied.

However I think what's most important for me anyway, is I am so incredibly busy trying to keep up with the latest techniques in SMT and electronics, that I have no idea about these issues on the news.

I have to stay creative and invent new products and workflow techniques as fast as possible to stay ahead of a tough global technology market, that I have absolutely no idea about war's and political fights. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't have a lot of brain time for this stuff if I want to keep ahead.

I know that's sounds a little "Brittany Spears" bimbo attitude, however I feel the first mistake is to take your eye off the ball with technology.

Really this forum is possibly the worst place for this kind of discussion anyway, and I have always liked that it's kept focused on issues no matter who you are and where your from.

Lets stick to SMT no matter who you are!
