Upgrade SMT Comuter from HP300 to PC | 1 July, 2008

Hi, Our enterprise using Siemens MS-72 SMT Machine, in production of automation devices. One of SMT Machine computer suddenly crashed. Does anybody know any suggestion about replacing old HP300(HP150) with PC computers. Thanks in advance, best regards Tsarpin

Can't be done. HP300 are Motorola MC68K-family based UNIX workstations and you can't run machine software on PC-based hardware.

Thanks for your post Deni. As far as I know, HP300 software written in HP BASIC, it communicates with SMT machine over HPIB. We can use PCIHPIB interface card and port software to x86. SMT software is over 5000 strings in HP BASIC, most of them is a implementation of User Interface. I able to list program on HP , but can't view on PC. Maybe someone have such files or another usefull information

HP300 used a file format called LIF (for floppies). If you can copy the software to the floppy, there's HP utlitity for reading LIF disks on the PC. For details look here http://www.home.agilent.com/upload/cmc_upload/All/5306OSKR-MXD-5601-040163.pdf
