Is there any specific method or product available to implement FIFO system. Currently we stack all the D/C in a shelf and we don't have a method to pull the latest D/D first.

I would appreciate any help in this regard. Sundaram

Put the new stuff in the back and pull from the front. A pass through from stores makes that a lot easier.

Bar codes are a wonderful thing if you can get people to use them. Wand it into stores then wand it sequentially into production via a queue. It might take some custom software to make it bark at you if you try to take something out of sequence, though. I've never heard of any commercial packages out there but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Other than that, defind your process on paper and use a paper system to track what's available, when it came in, and use it in the order received. It takes lots of list checks, initials and dates on forms, etc., but nobody every said good record keeping was a walk in the park.

I have shlves with rollers and a stop on one end. Boxes go in one end and roll towards the other. One end for people to pull from, the other is to load.

I have bunch left over and willing to sell cheap. Let me know if you want them.

I'm not sure this would solve your problem but Inovaxe has done a good job of solving MSD and inventory handling and control. They are also a sponsor of SMTnet...here is their SMTnet listing followed by thier web site for their carts... http://www.smtnet.com/company/index.cfm?fuseaction=view_company&company_id=51236 http://www.inovaxe.com/products_inocart.cfm
