We have been having problems placing a domed LED with a Mydata HYDRA. The pocket that the part comes in seems to have some slop causing the part to be picked crooked. We have been playing around with different custom tools. Has anyone had similar problems? Any input could be help full.

Not sure what your job quantity is, or how many total parts you have to place, but we've had similar issues in the past trying to place domed LEDs. We had better luck cutting the tape into 25 or 50 piece strips and using double-sided tape to put them on the tray wagon. That way the tape stays stationary and the parts are easier to pick up. Just a thought...

I agree, I'd try placing them with the midas or z-fi head depending what you have. Try using the mechanical centering in the zero angle with a low strength to move it straight. You'll probably have better luck finding a tool that will work on the head as well. If you need a solution for the hydra I'd recommend calling MYData tech support and seeing if you can send them a strip of your parts for them to come up with a solution for you.
