Does anyone know the correct way to measure the pitch of the cavities between the rows and columns of waffle trays? Everytime that we measure using a caliper, it is always off. Is there a formula to use to determine the exact center of the cavities? I am trying to pick parts off the trays with a Fuji IP3 and Fuji Flexa. Thanks for any help.

Of course the best way is to get a dimensioned tray drawing if possible. The next best way is measure point to point over as many cavities as you can open your calipers up to. Divide the measurement by the number of pockets you spanned. This reduces the amount of error that's gets compounded when you only measure cavity to cavity.

Secondly if your tray drawers are even slightly bent on your MTU..forget about it.

Doesn't JEDEC define dimensions for trays, reels, tapes, etc?

They define outer tray dimension and thickness. The array is specific to the component type.

> Thanks all.

But why the hell don't they just print the pitch on the trays...? Hardly rocket science!
