Mydata Hydra tool reference mark error | 4 May, 2013

Hi, I have been having a problem with my My19E's hydra. The machine comes up with an error "Failed to locate HYDRA tool reference marks" and stops running. It does not happen for about the first two hours of running. It starts to happen after that and gets worse during day. Has anyone run into this problem and what was the solution.

It's been a while since I've used a MyData but I believe what happens is on the bottom of the hydra black metal piece is a mark that the vision system uses to locate the tools as they pass over to center the parts. Something may have happened to this mark.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, it's been a couple of years since I've dealt with one.

if you don't have anything obstructing the camera then it sounds like it could be the camera power supply going bad. what version of tpsys are you running?

We had that problem on our M12. There were a few components that had gotten dropped into the camera area as the hydra head past over it. Our MY12 has a knob towards the front of the machine in direct line with the camera. Pulling this knob releases some sort of small door on a spring in the camera area that allows these components to drop down into a collection bin that is emptied from the rear of the machine. Pull the spring loaded knob a couple times and the error should go away.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help me. I think I finally found the problem. I had to slow the rate of speed of the x wagon as it was passing over the camera. After I did that the problem went away.

That may have fixed it, but it doesn't sound like that would be the original cause.

We have had this problem before, and Phil was pretty close.

On the hydra where the vacuum tubes are connected to the tools shafts you should see a red light inside there. this light locates a lazer cut mark on each of the tool shafts, this lets the machine know where the tools are height wise. these can get pretty dirty and when that happens the machine cannot pick up where these lines are located. we use IPA and Q-tips to get these clean, it can take awhile if it has never been done.

If you pull down the Z block with the theta belt on your hydra system and follow the vacuum tubes you should see what I'm talking about. Also another hydra issue we have had is on the bottom of the hydra head there are 2 white fiducials that can get dirty also and that can mess up the hydra function as well.

I am not affiliated with Mydata at all, we run TP9, My19, & My100sx. I tend to know my way around these guys.

Thanks for the info on the Hydra tubes that will be helpful. I found the answer from one of the Mydata techs. The Camera needs the hydra head to go slower then 1.9m/sec and the setting was at 1.8m/sec. They found out that even if the machine was set at 1.8 they were actually going over 2.0, so they slowed the machines down to 1.6 when going over the camera.
