Recently, we have been experimenting with the 1.8/2.5 nozzle to be able to solder leads that are near an SMD. This pcbs were not design for selective solder, so we are trying to work within this limitations.

I found the 1.8 nozzle very hard to install at start up, solder has the tendency to stop flowing and get cold at the top, so makes it impossible to do a wave height test. Time spent getting this nozzle to work is ridiculous.

I don't want to give up yet on this one, but it is sure frustrating.

We use a 2mm with our Pillarhouse Jade Mark II. We found that reducing the nitrogen enough that the area around the nozzle stays hot enough not to "freeze".

Thanks for the pointer tombstonesmt, I'll give that a shot. Being able to utilize this nozzle will help tremendously. I'll post results as they become available.
