Printing forum items | 3 December, 1999

I'd like to print out a forum item to fax to a friend who does not have internet access or email yet at his new facility, but no matter what I do to my printer set-up I cannot get the full page width to print. The right side of the message keeps getting cut off. What am I doing wrong? Please advise.

Hi Cunli I guess it's too much to hope for that you're back but it's nice that you're still paying attention . I've used the printer friendly version before and it worked fine. However it does't always work. I'm holding Dave F's posting (help with...) from yesterday where the printer friendly button apparantly took me to the alternate version but it looked and printed like the standard wide version. Today it works fine. Anyway, nice to hear from you- hope things are working out well for you. John Thorup

Bill,

As Cunli said, there is a link at the top of each message page that will pop open a printer friendly version. Before we added that feature, the only solution was to print the page in landscape mode. The printer friendly version is not a fixed width like the rest of the site, so when you print it, the printer is able to adjust it to the width of the paper.

Mike -

I had tried the "printer friendly version" before I sent my original message last Friday. The result may have been "printer friendly", but it wasn't very "reader friendly". All the words printed but the printout removed all the formatting so that there were no paragraphs or indents, making the material very difficult to read. Is there anything to be done about that?

Thanks for the tip. There was an error in the printer friendly page for forum postings. We have repaired the formatting problem, so it will retain all of the paragraphs and indents that the original message contains. If you have other observations or suggestions, we would like to hear them. This is the best way for us to improve our service to our viewers. This is your forum and we want to make it a useful as possible.
