The company that does this is McDermid. There are multiple different ways of doing it. Screen print silver paste onto the mylar, "activate" the film to be conductive, then plate in copper. These processes are found in the patent literature which is extensive. Start your search at patentsonline.com or uspto.gov Also the Printed Circuit Handbook editions 5 and 6 are very useful. There is an almost complete rewrite between these 2 editions, they are heavy reading, a science/engineering/chemistry degree makes it easier.
