DEK 03! CAN Node Rising Table Error | 13 January, 2022

Hello, and thank you in advance for your help.

I have just received a used DEK 03i and I am having a problem that I don't know exactly how to troubleshoot.

The DEK will power up correctly and everything will initialize.

When I try to set up a new product I am at the step of loading a board to verify the fiducials. Everytime I do that the rising table moves to the board transfer height and I get the following error.

Controller Area Network (CAN) Node Error CAN Node Rising Table Motor

The only way to recover this is to power cycle the machine.

I am able to move the rising table in diagnostics mode to the board transfer height, and camera height, However when I move it to print height in diagnostics I get a [ SYSTEM ERROR ] and the DEK must be power cycled.

I am able to load a board and stencil in Diagnostics mode and verify the fiducials with out issue.

I looked at every single connector on this DEK to be sure there was nothing loose.

I pulled all the cards and re-seated them too.

No change.

One thing I was wanting to find is if there is a persistent error log somewhere. If I could determine if this error was happening before the DEK was shipped that might send me on a different trouble shooting path then if it's only started happening after shipping.

Hello Jeff, error is telling you exactly what it is - communication problem. CAN interface is interrupted somewhere. Motors are constantly sharing position and commands with computer over CAN interface. To get this message means somewhere this circuit gets disconnected.In your case it seems it might be related to table movement. Follow the purple cable - DEK usually use this one for CAN interface.Check all connections on this cable. If not loose connection, it might be a cable being broken somewhere.

Thank you very much I will look for something moving, loose or getting pinched when the table moves. -- Update -- checked every single connector, all the purple cables/connectors too. Everything it tight and not getting hung up.

Checked all the voltages and the are all at or slightly higher then they need to be. 5.0v is 5.2v 48v supply is 49v, 5.5v supply is 5.49

I also tried to jog the table up while I manually lifted the rails to see if a rail moving was somehow causing the error, it did not cause an issue.

Which of the next move cards is it that is responsible for the table? None of them are labeled table They say Y actuator & Moving Rail front & rear squeegees fwd & rear actuators

I think maybe none of those boards are for the lift table.

I don't seem to be finding any loose connections.

I am starting to suspect perhaps the rising table driver, BGE9010C, or the Motor it's self. I just don't know how to prove one or the other.

How sensitive to pressure should the table be? While jogging the table up in diagnostics mode if I push down on the table just a little bit the DEK will fault with a [ system error ]

DEK 03! CAN Node Rising Table Error | 16 January, 2022

Chapter 7 - Machine Control of the DEK manual outlines connectivity between the rising table servo node 6 and the NextMove ES card. If you don't have the manual, just PM me. I'm not an expert in DEK repair, but the solution could be as simple as cleaning the contacts in the edge connector.
