shield placement?

shield placement? | 28 April, 1999

Hi everyone, We started our first machine placed shield test today.We will be machine placing shields with in the next two months. I used a Fuji Qp242 today. There were no problems with pickup etc,. just vision errors. I'm sure we will work them out, but I'd like some imput on problems others might have came across in this implementation.

Hi Kevin,

Are we talking RF sheilds? If that's the case, the only thing that I can say from the experience that I've had with RF sheilds is that I hope that these sheilds are made very precisely. But from my experience, RF sheilds are just stamped metal and not normally made to the tolerances so that they'll be able to pass a machine vision inspection. I'm not familiar the QP242, but I know other FUJI machine's vision systems can be pretty darn picky... things have to be repeatable and consistent for the FUJI's vision system to accept them...

The supplier is based out the Chicago land area and is called BMI (Jack Black 847 943-4700). These guys make a real durable product built for manufacturing. Part Data information is not at all difficult for the FIP3 or QP242 machines. Kevin, if your using a line scan camera (camera #4/#7) try using vision type 252 with frontlightAB selected. If you do not have the time to test this, send the parts in question to Fuji America Corp. for part data development. Ask your sales representative and he/she can get it to the right person to do the dirty work for you.
