TSOP Placement

Looking for advise on placing 56 pin TSOP from tape and reel. Been told that placing TSOP's greater than 32 pin from tape and reel can cause significant reliability problems. True? False? Comments? Any reference literature available?

Boy, I'd not attempt it. The potential for damaging the already fragile lead coplanarity is high in T/R packaging. Any added handling beyond what your TSOP vendor already performs is in MHO not advisable. The T/R process is a secondary operation, even at the vendor. Then you have the shipping process.........

I'd use trays, and even then you've GOT to control your vendor. They will ship you problematic components if you let them.

Is the issue driving T/R packaging feeder capacity on your platform? Do you have a "tray sequencer" option on your F/P platform? If you are getting a mix of higher pin-count, F/P devices, you might consider it......
