cleaning solution to clean socket board. | 16 October, 2000

Dear sir, I have a problem to find the new chemical solution instead IPA(isopropyl alcohol) to eliminate contamination on the test pin socket board made from copper that plate with nickle and gold. And after the often testing IC process, the contamination was generated at the pin but i'm not sure what is this contamination maybe the metal oxide or something else. If you have any idea please share to me. But I think if it's oxide, IPA can't clean this. So, maybe it's other contam. thanks in advance.

Hi Soza: As Dave F mentioned, there are lot of factors involving the formation of residue, after cleaning. Factors, (such as: solvent's cleaning power, presence of metal oxides, type of soldering flux, etc...). One thing pretty sure, IPC is usually not an effective cleaner as a flux remover. The water in IPA may cause nuisance to you. There are some "Flux Remover" out in the market. Try them!
