Thanks for all replying to my printing SPC posting.

I like to expand the SPC discussion on reflow and wave soldering.

I am aware of the common methods of applying periodic measurements using test vehicles though the machines to collect critical process parameters. I like to know if anyone is running real time SPC on these two processes and their comments on practicality and results on product quality improvement.

define what you class as SPC for these area's, or do you just mean looking at the PPM or DPM levels?

We have found that using the SPC capability of the profiler's pc software helps us identify oven malfunctions sooner than we would normally find it. The ovens tend to compensate for dieing or dead blowers by cranking the heaters on for longer cycles, and although it's transparent to the operator on the oven's control screen, it shows up on the profilers spc charts. The only issue we have is in getting people to remember to run the profiles.
