Oxygen Levels in Lead-Free Reflow | 15 October, 2002

I'm currently trying to get a feel for what oxygen level I will need in my lead-free assembly process. Do I need to go with the pure vaporized liquid nitrogen, or can I get away with one of the other "on-demand" operations?

All assistance gratefully accepted.

There is not requirement for a low O2 atmosphere for no-lead soldering.

There was quite a lot of work on lead-free profiles in the European IDEALS lead-free project and some info on this is available for download at: * http://www.lead-free.org/download/files/pdf/IDEALS%20Report1.pdf * http://www.lead-free.org/download/files/pdf/IDEALS%20Report2.pdf

There is also a presentation on the SOLDERTEC site that has some actual profiles in it. http://www.lead-free.org/research/index.html
