Segregation of components from Gerber Input

Segregation of components from Gerber Input | 21 March, 2004

We are getting inputs following inputs from our customer 1.Gerber 2.Pick and Place XY information 3.BOM. Sometime the pick and place information are combined for both TOp and Bottom side. Is there any software available to segregate the component from Silkscreen gerber (top and Bottom side components).

I believe that a company called AEGIS with a product called Circuitcam might be able to address your needs. We currently use Circuitcam with Gencad files, but it can also handle gerber inputs. Their contact info. is Phone: 215 773 3571 Ask for Bob Miklosey. They are located just outside of Philadelphia, PA

Aegis' product CircuitCAM does perform this function. They have partnerships with most machine manufacturers allowing them to create programs for just about any SMT, Thru-hole, AOI and other equipment. If you call them they'll do a demo on-line with your data.

GerberGrab does exactly this, and it's low cost, and you can use it for a month for free. It is a sophisticated but easy to use reverse engineering tool which will automatically generate top / bottom BOMs with placement and rotation after teaching of one instance of each of the shapes. It has many other features, such as the ability to load a scanned image of the board as a background for cross checking of the Gerber / Bom and placement list / physical PCB. It also handles HPGL2 input / output.
