Hi,

Actually we're looking for a new reflow oven regarding lead-free process and higher capacity production.

We have an opportunity for a second hand Electrovert Omniflo-7 (nitrous ready) that respect our budget.

My questions are:

Does anyone has experienced problems in lead-free reflow process? Does anyone have a study about the zone number vs lead-free soldering? What do you suggest in used equipement?

Feel free to say anything about the subject.

It all depends on what type of board you need to solder. If your boards are small in size and low thermal mass and your conveyor speed requirments are normal, then I'd say the OmniFlo 7 will do the job. It has a max zone temp setting of 280C. The current no Pb solderpastes from Indium and others are getting down to 230C-235C on board temps (thermocouple in solder joint) with excellent results. To get 230C-235C on board with the OmnFlo 7 your max spike zone temp can be as low as 240C-245C at normal conveyor speeds for a low thermal mass board. But, if your boards are on the medium to higher thermal mass range and you need to run at a faster conveyor speed then you will have a problem. The OmniFlo series was designed to operate in the 250C temp range. Running up near the max of 280C for a long period is not recomended.
