ok guys here we go I am looking for production simulation software I am presently working on a project to enhance my Fuji smt lines production yeilds and throughput can any of you guys suggest what factors need to be taken into consideration and is there any papers or examples been drawn up that I can cross ref: my results

I am guessing if I treat this as a new installation from the groud up what do I need to do I have a rough idea but looking for some advice

We utilize something called value stream mapping. It's actually quite simple and works well.

You can do a search for it on the web.

John-

Although we don't produce "production simulation" software what we do produce will help you achieve better yields and throughput. Our software monitors the placement accuracy on Fuji placement equipment.

"Optimization" and "production simulation" software are very important but we believe the first step to achieveing your overall goal is to make sure your existing equipment is performing at their optimum accuracy levels.

John,

just finished a similiar project.

What is your budget? (very important) what operating system are you running currently?

Are you aiming to do: * Line balancing * Product scheduling between multiple assembly lines

Thanks Guys I am looking to enhance and utilise exsisting machines or a with a reduced investment ie I have already purchased printers and placement machines If I had line balancing software this would be great I want to input the present cycle times from the begining to the end of board population and simulate the board production then play about with the process without upsetting my present builds any ideas

Most placement machine equipment suppliers offer software for line balancing. What's with Fuji?

Fujitrax is a system developed in order to attain high levels of "progress management, quality management & traceability" over several SMT lines, through the placement, inspection and maintenance processes, and place it at the fingertips of factory administrators, enabling a speedy, interactive solution. Features Include * Part Verification * SMT Production Line Traceability * PCB Assembly Quality Control * Management of Production Processes * Feeder Maintenance Forecasts * Remaining Parts Administrator * Improve Line Balance & Throughput

Aegis New Product Introduction (NPI) software offers a unique combination of process engineering, component engineering, and version management. Capabilities delivered in a controlled, centralized manner, supporting efficient operations in the factory office, fast product introduction, and immediate engineering change implementation.

Or you could always buy a stopwatch.....

You can then move over components from one machine to the next during your maintenance periods. If you don't build too many products this is going to be quicker than evaluating, installing & learning a new package.

You could afford a really nice jewel encrusted one for the price of one days software consultancy.

Go on, treat yourself, you're worth it.
