A customer has asked us to solder a surface mount mini USB connector to a board. They need the connector housing to center on an opening in a plastic panel. The question is how much does the solder process add to the overall height of the coonctor, e.g. .010"?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on how much paste you put on the pads.

Assuming your stencil is 1:1 to the pad and the solderability protection on the board is something other than HASL, we'd guess that your solder height is approximately 50% of your stencil thickness, because the metal volume of most pastes are about 50%.
