All solder pastes are worth consideration depending on your needs. What do you need to do? When you know this, run the experiment and determing what best works.

I never have found a situation when/where Indium or Kester has failed to perform. This, again, is based on the experiments I ran for military, commercial and "strange" applications.

Is it lead free you need? Is it not?

I have always encountered problems when using Kester (everything from bad solder to solder balls). I have profiled the boards to the extreme thinking it was my reflow recipie, but with no luck. I ended up going to AIM and I have never had a problem since (Lead-WaterSol, don't have type on hand)

Kester water soluble seems to work best for us at this point. I am just trying to figure out why we are having so many problems when we use AIM paste. It tends to stick to the blades, clog the aperatures and of course gives us insufficient solder.

For PB solder, Indium has never failed to produce quality results. WS,RMA and 2%silver WS get my vote.

Can't speak for PB-free though

We use all three depending on application (flux type, size, etc). I think they all have excellent pastes, but it just depends specifically on how you are using them. I've gotta say it's hard to find bad things to say about Indium though.

I do not know about Indium but dealing with Kester has been the WORST experience I have had dealing with a supplier. Do not know who does the hiring at that company but they are failing miserably.

No, I am not a competitor. Just a pi%$@! off FORMER customer.

Indium Pb paste has always been great but the flux tends to implode on the BGA's (despite many different profile strategies). The Indium Pb-Free is horrible...horrible, and have been kicked out of my lead-free eval.

PS-I went to Moonman/Guru link again. My flippin' eyes are still hurting from that bright background on his website.

We had been using the Kester Easy profile 256 paste and recently switched to the 256 HA (high activity) paste. Ive seen a reduction in shorts and better wetting on our more difficult to solder components. Both related to one another but both positive.
