Vibration Monitoring

Jun 04, 2021 | Most of us are familiar with vibration; a vibrating object moves to and fro, back and forth. A vibrating object oscillates. We experience many examples of vibration in our daily lives. A pendulum set in motion vibrates. A plucked guitar string vibrates. Vehicles are driven on rough terrain vibrate, and geological activity can cause massive vibrations in the form of earthquakes. There are various ways we can tell that something is vibrating. We can touch a vibrating object and feel the vibration. We may also see the back-and-forth movement of a vibrating object. Sometimes vibration creates sounds that we can hear or heat that we can sense. In industrial plants, there is the kind of vibration we are concerned about: machine vibration. What is machine vibration? Machine vibration is simply the back and forth movement of machines or machine components. Any component that moves back and forth or oscillates is vibrating. Machine vibration can take various forms. A machine component may vibrate over large or small distances, quickly or slowly, and with or without perceptible sound or heat. Machine vibration can often be intentionally designed and so have a functional purpose At other times machine vibration can be unintended and lead to machine damage. Most times machine vibration is unintended and undesirable. Vibration monitoring allows the user to detect early signs of machine failure/deterioration. This allows the technician to replace or repair machinery before catastrophic system functional failure takes place.

Valves, Fittings & Tubbing

Jun 04, 2021 | Valves are made of iron or brass and are used in water-supply mains. Valves stop or control the flow of liquid, gas, condensate, etc. Fitting or pipe fittings are an important component of the plumbing system. Fittings are fixed in the plumbing system to join straight pipes or any section of tubes together.

Valve Controllers

Jun 03, 2021 | Valve controllers use digital communications technology to help ensure devices operate reliably and are available to perform actions when required.

Turbine Parts

Jun 03, 2021 | A turbine is an engine capable of extracts energy from a fluid flow and converts it into mechanical energy. This energy then drives a generator to produce electrical power. Turbine parts are important in the sense that all of them have their own usage that ensured the smooth operation of the turbine.

Transmitter

Jun 03, 2021 | In the Telecommunications world, a Transmitter is a device that produces radio waves radiating from an antenna. In the world of process control, a Transmitter is a device that converts the signal produced by a sensor into a standard instrumentation signal representing a process variable being measured and controlled.

Transducer

Jun 03, 2021 | A transducer is a device that holds the ability to change a form of energy into another.

Thermostat

Jun 03, 2021 | Many people don't realize the importance that a thermostat plays a comfortable temperature in their home. When the AC or heater don't seem to be working right, it is often the last thing people think to check. Like anything else, your thermostat can wear out over time, making your HVAC system unable to properly heat and cool your home.

Thermocouple

Jun 03, 2021 | A thermocouple is a sensor used for measuring temperature. It comprises two dissimilar metal wires, which are connected at one end and joined to a thermocouple-thermometer or another thermocouple-capable device at the other end. When thermocouples are properly configured, they can provide temperature measurements over a wide temperature range.

Solenoid Valve

Jun 02, 2021 | Process control throughout a vast array of industries relies heavily on the humble solenoid valve and its ability to perform both reliably and efficiently

Soft Starter

Jun 02, 2021 | The traditional method of starting an AC induction motor "across the line" results in full voltage, current, and torque being applied immediately when the motor is started, and likewise, being removed immediately when the motor is stopped. While this is the most simple starting method, the high inrush current (often 6 to 7 times the motor's rated current) and peak starting torque can damage the motor, driven equipment, and product. Across the line starting also causes high peak power demand, which can trigger peak demand fees from the utility company. A soft starter can eliminate these problems by gradually increasing voltage to the motor terminals during startup, providing a controlled ramp-up to full speed. This lowers inrush current and controls starting torque, reducing mechanical shocks to the system and the product.
