Cimnet Systems recently joined the Valor OSA (Open Systems Alliance) partnership program in conjunction with the introduction of an ODB++(X) interface into Cimnet Systems specialized ERP, engineering, quote and procurement systems. In response to a need for enhanced data integration, Cimnet Systems is providing its customers with a robust data interface solution to DFM, manufacturing analysis and CAM that fully integrates within their IT and engineering environment. Now Paradigm and Engenix users can achieve a more efficient and highly automated production planning process assisted by the intelligent, embedded ODB++(X) data.
Commenting on the announcement, Mehul Dav, president and CEO of Cimnet Systems, Inc., said, The decision to include ODB++(X) support in our products was made due to its growing adoption throughout the electronics industry for data exchange between design and manufacturing. The integration with ODB++(X) provides a seamless flow of data between previously unintegrated systems, enabling our products to read engineering and CAM data directly from ODB++(X)-based engineering tools. This interface solves a key problem in the PCB industry, i.e., the traditional lack of integration of data between engineering and business systems. The adoption of the ODB++(X) data standard in conjunction with our advanced engineering and manufacturing solutions will provide exceptionally fast integration of fragmented data, and allow customers to collaborate more efficiently for faster throughput. We expect this capability to strengthen our leadership position in providing the de facto standard solution for the global PCB and electronics industry.
The rapidly increasing number of electronics software companies that are developing ODB++(X) interfaces underpins the widening market acceptance of ODB++(X) as the next generation standard for improving the processes of CAD/CAM data exchange across the electronics supply chain, said Julian Coates, vice president of marketing at Valor.
Valor technical resources are already supporting Cimnet Systems in the development and testing work to ensure that a robust and fully proven solution is brought to the market. The use of ODB++(X) as a common integrating technology between all partners in the supply chain provides engineers and manufacturers with new efficiency levels. ODB++(X) has established itself as the mainstream de facto standard for next generation data exchange, delivering reduced information-processing costs and increased quality throughout the industry, Coates added.
Product Availability
The ODB++(X) interface is currently shipping with Engenix and is fully compatible with the latest Cimnet Systems product releases.
