Apr 02, 2013 The SMTA is pleased to announce the program for the 2013 International Conference on Soldering and Reliability being held May 14-17 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. As a new group of engineers and scientists involved in the design and manufacture of medical devices and monitoring and control instruments must prepare for the requirements of RoHS recast, soldering and reliability professionals need to come together to share their knowledge and their vision for addressing the challenges. The event will be co-located with the SMTA Toronto Expo.
The technical conference features 30 presentations on topics ranging from new low silver or silver free alloys to stencil printing to head-on-pillow defect and tin whisker mitigation. Speakers represent companies including 3M, Alcatel-Lucent, BAE International, Blackberry, Celestica, Creation Technologies, Honeywell International, IBM, Indium Corporation, Rockwell Collins, Universal Instruments Corporation, Uyemura International, and schools including University of Seoul, University of Toronto, and SUNY Binghamton.
On Wednesday, May 15, Charles G. Woychik, Ph.D., Invensas Corporation, will deliver the Keynote Presentation on "Solder Assembly Solutions for 3D IC Packaging."
Half-day workshops on Tuesday, May 14, will include:
- Package-on-Package (PoP) Assembly - Material, Process and Reliability
- The Challenges of Converting From Leaded to Lead-Free Solder
- BTC (Bottom Termination Components) Assembly - Material, Process and Reliability
- Advanced PCB Troubleshooting: Cause, Effect and Prevention of PCB Related Defects
The SMTA Toronto Expo and Tech Forum will run in conjunction with the ICSR program on Thursday, May 16th. Conference participants may attend the expo for no charge.
