RENEE MICHALKIEWICZ ELECTED TO CHAIR TOP IPC STANDARDS LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE

Apr 11, 2014

Renee Michalkiewicz, MIT, general manager, Trace Laboratories, Baltimore, has been elected chair of the IPC Technical Activities Executive Committee (TAEC) for a two-year term. Michalkiewicz succeeds Douglas Pauls of Rockwell Collins, who held the role for IPC’s top standards development oversight committee for the past two years.

Citing her goals for the next two years, Michalkiewicz said, “While chair of the IPC TAEC, I plan to work with a TAEC task group to develop a plan to improve the standards development process and time it takes to go to publication. I believe another important task of the TAEC is to keep bringing new talent into committee leadership roles. I would like the TAEC to consider ways to motivate our committee participants to take on these leadership positions.”

Michalkiewicz has served as an active volunteer and leader for IPC and the electronics manufacturing industry for 18 years. Presently, she serves as chair of the 7-10 Testing Committee and co-chair of the 5-20 Assembly and Joining Processes Committee as well as an active contributor to more than a dozen IPC standards development committees, subcommittees and task groups. In addition, she is an IPC Master Instructor (MIT) for IPC-A-600, Acceptability of Printed Boards and IPC-6012, Qualification and Performance Specification for Rigid Printed Boards.

Michalkiewicz joined Trace Laboratories in Baltimore in 1995. She has expertise in printed board testing, soldering materials, solder mask, conformal coating, environmental testing, and process validation including cleanliness, SIR, MIR, ECM and CAF. She has presented numerous papers on these topics at IPC conferences.
