IPC and SMTA to Host Comprehensive Conference on High Performance Cleaning and Coating

Sep 15, 2010

BANNOCKBURN, IL - IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries® in partnership with SMTA will host a High Performance Cleaning and Coating Conference, November 16–18, 2010, at the Renaissance Hotel & Convention Center, Schaumburg, Ill. The uniquely focused conference will provide intense coverage of technological developments in all areas of cleaning and coating, applied to electronics assemblies.

Prior to the conference, two technical workshops will be held on November 16 to provide comprehensive knowledge of cleaning agent and cleaning equipment integration, as well as practical conformal coating for the future. Mike Bixenman, DBA, Kyzen Corporation and Steve Stach, Austin American Corporation, will provide considerations for integrating the cleaning agent with equipment for maximum performance and minimum variation in the manufacturing process. Lee Hitchens, Ph.D., SCH Technologies, will demystify the science of conformal coating, coating material technologies, and available application methods to help attendees learn which coatings to use, how to apply them, and the associated costs, as well as understand how to best troubleshoot process problems and how to resolve them.

The two-day conference will begin on November 17 with technical presentations on the topics of assembly cleaning, electrical failures, conformal coating and Class 3 cleaning challenges. These sessions will feature the latest research and best practices from experts in their fields.

Day two of the conference will focus on bringing attendees up to date on advancements in rework and conformal coatings. Industry leaders Doug Pauls and Dave Hillman of Rockwell Collins will review IPC assembly specifications related to cleaning and cleanliness. In addition, presentations on eco-centric cleaning processes will include actual case studies to guide attendees with practical information and concrete examples.

Registration for the two-day conference includes a copy of the proceedings, luncheons and a networking reception. For more information or to register, visit http://www.smta.org/Cleaning.
