IPC Honors TTM Technologies and Celestica with 2011 Corporate Recognition Awards

Apr 20, 2011

IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries® bestowed its highest corporate honors to TTM Technologies and Celestica. During the IPC Annual Meeting Luncheon held in conjunction with IPC APEX EXPO™, IPC awarded the Stan Plzak Corporate Recognition Award to Celestica and the Peter Sarmanian Corporate Recognition Award to TTM Technologies. Leaders and innovators within their respective industries, both companies have been decades-long IPC supporters.

Named after a former IPC Board Chairman who was also a founding member of the IPC Electronics Manufacturing Services Industry Management Council, the Stan Plzak Corporate Recognition Award was presented to Celestica for its initiatives in enhancing the industry while demonstrating support of IPC through participation in technical and/or management programs.

An IPC member since 1994, Celestica has 41 member facilities across the world. Twenty-eight Celestica employees hold 54 IPC committee memberships. In addition, certified IPC trainers and certified IPC specialists among Celestica employees near the 900 mark, and one employee earned the IPC President’s Award in 2000.

Commenting on the company’s IPC involvement, Thilo Sack, principle engineer at Celestica said, “It’s an honor to be recognized as a company; a lot of individual employees have been awarded in past years for their standards committee work. When we started looking at our participation in IPC, we realized we were involved in far more IPC programs than we had ever noticed. That’s how deeply IPC standards and programs are part of our company. It’s also important to us that the input we provide to IPC committees is appreciated by the industry.”

Named for a former IPC Board Chairman, the Peter Sarmanian Corporate Recognition Award honors an IPC member company in the printed circuit board industry that has taken a leadership role and made contributions to the industry while demonstrating support of IPC through participation in technical and/or management programs.

TTM Technologies has been an IPC member since 1981 and its staff is active on 28 technical committees. Two employees serve as chair or co-chair of four committees; Chief Operating Officer Shane Whiteside serves on IPC’s Board of Directors; and an additional 20 employees are certified IPC trainers while 88 have earned certified IPC specialist status.

On receiving their award, Whiteside commented, "We're honored to be recognized by IPC and the industry. We’ve participated in quite a few ongoing programs including environmental compliance, government relations and a number of others."
