Ephraim Suhir, Ph.D., Distinguished Member of Research Staff, Bell Laboratories, Basic Research, Physical Sciences and Engineering Research Division will present a course entitled, " Fiberoptics Interconnects: Design For Reliability" in the dEsign Expo Conference at EtroniX 2001. This three hour in-depth presentation will take place on Wednesday, February 28 beginning at 9:00am.
The course will be taught with an emphasis on the physics of phenomena and the mechanical behavior of the packaging structure. No special knowledge of the mechanical, materials or structural engineering, or applied mathematics is required. Easy to use formulas will be presented, indicating the role of the major factors affecting the reliability of bare and coated optical fibers. The course will show how methods of Engineering Mechanics can be effectively applied to obtain solutions to various practical problems of the mechanical behavior, physical design and reliability of fiberoptics structures experiencing thermal and/or external loading.
EtroniX 2001 is produced and managed by the Electronics Group of Reed Exhibition Companies (REC). EtroniX will be held February 25 - March 1, 2001 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.
